As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will lead technical design, planning, and optimization efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to drive project success from feasibility through execution.
Responsibility
- Own and lead technical mine planning, design optimization, and production scheduling for open pit and underground operations.
- Develop and validate ore reserve estimations, production forecasts, and life-of-mine plans in collaboration with geology and metallurgical teams.
- Conduct geotechnical assessments, rock mechanics analyses, and ground control planning to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Design ventilation, drainage, and long-term site infrastructure to optimize safety and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements; lead risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers; review technical drawings, reports, and project deliverables.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations to ensure timely execution, cost control, and quality outcomes.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; a Master’s degree and Australian professional registration (Chartered Engineer/EngInt) is highly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive mining engineering experience in open pit and/or underground operations.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik, MineSight) and data analytics tools.
- Strong geotechnical/rock mechanics background and experience with ground control planning.
- Knowledge of ventilation design and electrical/infrastructure considerations for large-scale mines.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration; project management experience.
- Commitment to safety, health, and environment; familiarity with ISO 45001 and regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to travel to site locations and relocate as required within Western Australia; excellent communication skills for cross-disciplinary teams.
