Job description

Aurora Mining & Resources seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to lead design, planning, and execution of high profile projects. You will partner with geologists, metallurgists, and operations to optimize safety, efficiency, and ore recovery.

In this role you will oversee open pit and underground mining activities, develop robust mine plans, conduct feasibility analyses, and drive continuous improvements in production forecasting and cost control. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate multi discipline teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory and HSE standards across sites.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design and execution of mining projects from concept through commissioning across open pit and underground operations.
  • Develop and optimize mine plans, production schedules, and resource models using industry standard software.
  • Ensure safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all sites.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including geologists, metallurgists, and operations to optimize ore recovery and cost performance.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and contractor relationships to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Prepare technical reports, reserves statements, and feasibility studies for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering; Master degree preferred; licensed professional engineer status is advantageous.
  • 5-8+ years of mining experience with open pit or underground operations; exposure to Western Australia or similar jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of mine planning software and data analysis; experience with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong safety mindset and knowledge of ISO 45001 or equivalent health and safety standards.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites and work across diverse teams.
