OreNova Resources is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join our Perth team. This role leads open-pit mining planning initiatives, supports safe and efficient operations, and drives value through technical excellence. You will partner with geologists, metallurgists, and planning engineers to deliver robust designs and schedules that meet production targets while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Responsibility
- Lead open-pit mine planning, design optimization, and sequencing to maximize production while controlling costs.
- Develop and review geological models and mine designs using Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, and other planning tools.
- Manage geotechnical data, rock mechanics, slope stability, and ground control strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards; manage risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and operations to optimize throughput and capital efficiency.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules; identify and implement productivity improvements.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers; foster technical excellence and a culture of safe work.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of open-pit mining experience; underground exposure is a plus.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Leapfrog) and MS Excel.
- Solid knowledge of geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, slope design, and ground control.
- Professional registration or Chartered status (e.g., Engineers Australia CPEng) is preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to work on-site on a FIFO roster or on-site basis as required.
