TerraNova Mining Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to lead design and execution across open pit and underground projects in Western Australia. Join a collaborative, safety-first team delivering world-class mining solutions.
In this role, you will apply your expertise in resource planning, slope design, and production optimization to maximize value while maintaining compliance with regulatory and ESG standards. You will partner with geologists, metallurgists, and operations to drive efficiency and safe, sustainable outcomes.
Responsibility
- Lead feasibility studies and detailed mine designs for open pit and underground operations.
- Develop pit optimization, sequencing, and mine planning using Surpac, Datamine, and other industry tools.
- Oversee drilling, blasting, and material handling to ensure alignment with design and safety standards.
- Coordinate geological data, ore grade control, reconciliation, and production forecasting.
- Manage technical reporting, risk assessments, and HSE compliance across projects.
- Mentor junior engineers; collaborate with operations, geologists, metallurgists, and vendors to optimize recovery and costs.
- Drive continuous improvement through digital mining tools, data analytics, and productivity initiatives.
- Ensure regulatory permits, environmental stewardship, and liaise with regulators as needed.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent in Australia (or eligible for Engineers Australia membership).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in open pit and/or underground mining operations.
- Proficiency with mining software such as Surpac, Datamine, Vulcan, MineSIGHT, and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical design, slope stability, and production planning.
- Data-driven decision making with experience in reconciliation, forecasting, and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to work in Perth metro or FIFO arrangements with valid work rights.
