TerraNova Mining Solutions is a leading, globally focused mining operator with a strong portfolio in open pit and underground mining projects across Australia. We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead technical design, optimization, and field support for multi-disciplinary teams. This role offers a path to leadership, competitive compensation, relocation support to Perth, and exposure to large scale projects.
In this role you will deliver safe and sustainable mining methods, produce mine designs, conduct pit optimization, support feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with Australian standards and best practices.
Responsibility
- Lead and optimize mine design development for open pit and underground operations, including pit optimization and sequencing.
- Support feasibility studies, resource estimation, and production scheduling with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across all project phases.
- Analyze geotechnical data, rock mass behavior, and ground control plans to manage risk.
- Coordinate with geology, metallurgy, and EPC partners to deliver technical solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide oversight for design quality and QAQC.
- Prepare technical reports, mine plan summaries, and capital/operational cost estimates.
- Lead vendor evaluation and field support for equipment selection and optimization.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering; Master’s preferred; professional engineering registration or eligibility in Australia.
- 5+ years of experience in open pit and or underground mining projects.
- Strong knowledge of mine design software including Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik, GEOVIA, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with safety and risk management standards including ISO 45001; familiarity with Australian regulations.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage projects, and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills.
- Willingness to relocate to Perth and work on-site at major project sites.
