Responsibility

  • Lead open-pit mine planning, design, and short- to mid-term scheduling using Surpac, Carlson, Vulcan, and related tools.
  • Develop optimized mine designs and production schedules to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
  • Coordinate with geologists, surveyors, and production teams to ensure data integrity and timely plan deliverables.
  • Manage ore grade control, cut-off grades, and reconciliation processes to improve resource accuracy.
  • Oversee blasting design and fragmentation planning in collaboration with blasting engineers; monitor safety and environmental compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, risk assessment, and value engineering across mining operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with contractors, ensuring project budgets and timelines are met.
  • Prepare technical reports and management presentations for stakeholders and clients.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • Professional registration or eligible for MIEAust membership; minimum 5 years of open-pit mining experience.
  • Strong proficiency with mining software (Surpac, Carlson, Vulcan, MineSight) and MS Office.
  • Solid understanding of blasting, grade control, ore/waste reconciliation, and safety standards.
  • Experience in mine planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and project management; excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with geology, surveying, metallurgy, and operations teams.
  • Permanent work rights in Australia or visa eligibility for relocation to Perth.
