Join NorthPeak Mining & Exploration as a Senior Mining Engineer in Perth, Australia. You will lead the design and optimization of open pit and underground mining operations, delivering safe, productive, and cost-effective solutions for large-scale mineral projects.
We’re seeking a hands-on professional who thrives in a technically rigorous environment, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and drives performance from concept through execution.
What you’ll do: you will plan and optimize mine designs, supervise production scheduling, perform geotechnical assessments, lead risk analysis, and ensure compliance with Australian mining standards and company safety policies.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and optimization of open pit and underground mine plans using best-in-class software.
- Own pit optimization, sequencing, scheduling, and production planning to maximize value and minimize risk.
- Perform geotechnical assessments and rock mechanics analysis to support stable, safe mining operations.
- Coordinate with geologists, metallurgists, and surveyors to ensure data integrity and informed decision-making.
- Develop and monitor execution plans, budgets, and key performance indicators for mining projects.
- Implement safety management systems and promote a culture of continuous improvement and incident prevention.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, permitting readiness, and high standards of environmental stewardship.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical training and knowledge sharing.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on mining experience with open pit and/or underground operations.
- Registered Professional Engineer (Australia) or eligible to obtain local Chartered status.
- Proficiency with mine design and scheduling tools (Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD/2D, and related software).
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical concepts, rock mechanics, and resolution of stability issues.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Willingness to work in Perth, Australia, and travel to project sites as required; Australian work rights or eligible visa.
