Responsibility

  • Lead end-to-end mine planning efforts for open-pit and underground operations, including long-term scheduling, sequencing, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and optimize mine designs, stope layouts, and production plans that meet safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with geologists, metallurgists, and survey teams to ensure accurate resource estimation and grade control.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, equipment needs, and production KPIs to maximize value and minimize risk.
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments, ventilation planning, and blasting design to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, management dashboards, and client-ready presentations for stakeholders and regulators.
  • Mentor junior engineers, deliver training on best practices, software tools, and process improvements.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; Master's preferred
  • 5+ years of mining industry experience with demonstrated success in mine planning and design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent license preferred
  • Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Geovia Surpac/GEMS, MineSight) and CAD tools
  • Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, blasting, ventilation, dewatering, and safety management
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and relocate to Perth if required
