Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end mine planning efforts for open-pit and underground operations, including long-term scheduling, sequencing, and resource allocation.
- Develop and optimize mine designs, stope layouts, and production plans that meet safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with geologists, metallurgists, and survey teams to ensure accurate resource estimation and grade control.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, equipment needs, and production KPIs to maximize value and minimize risk.
- Conduct geotechnical assessments, ventilation planning, and blasting design to ensure safe, efficient operations.
- Prepare technical reports, management dashboards, and client-ready presentations for stakeholders and regulators.
- Mentor junior engineers, deliver training on best practices, software tools, and process improvements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; Master's preferred
- 5+ years of mining industry experience with demonstrated success in mine planning and design
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent license preferred
- Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Geovia Surpac/GEMS, MineSight) and CAD tools
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, blasting, ventilation, dewatering, and safety management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and relocate to Perth if required
