Join Aurora Media Group as a Senior News Reporter and play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, compelling journalism to a national audience. Based in New York City, you will cover breaking news, politics, business, and feature stories with initiative and integrity.
As part of our newsroom, you will break stories quickly, verify facts, interview sources, and collaborate with editors, photographers, and producers to produce high-quality content for multiple platforms.
Responsibility
- Produce accurate, engaging news articles for web and print across multiple platforms under tight deadlines.
- Cover breaking news, investigations, politics, and feature stories; develop compelling angles and grow a network of reliable sources.
- Verify information through interviews, document research, and data analysis; present balanced, verifiable reporting.
- Develop and manage story ideas, edit drafts, and ensure adherence to AP style and newsroom standards.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, videographers, and producers to deliver multimedia storytelling.
- Mentor junior reporters, provide feedback, and help build a strong newsroom culture focused on accuracy and ethics.
- Monitor developing stories, update existing coverage, and publish content promptly across platforms.
Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of professional journalism experience with demonstrated beat coverage.
- Proven ability to produce clear, compelling narratives under tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong command of AP style, copy-editing, and fact-checking practices.
- Experience with data-driven reporting, public records requests, and basic data visualization.
- Excellent interviewing, research, and source development skills; strong ethical standards.
- Multimedia storytelling skills including video, audio, and social media distribution.
