NovaPack Industries is a leading innovator in sustainable packaging solutions for consumer goods. We design, test, and scale packaging formats that protect product integrity while reducing waste and cost. Our Chicago-based team is seeking a results-oriented Packaging Engineer to drive packaging concepts from concept through implementation.
In this full-time role, you will partner with Product, R&D, Quality, and Operations to deliver robust packaging solutions that meet GMP, ISO 9001, and regulatory requirements. You will leverage data-driven methods to improve yield, reduce material usage, and ensure scalable production.

Responsibility
- Lead design and testing of new packaging concepts for multiple product lines
- Develop and manage packaging specifications, BOMs, and ECOs
- Conduct DFMEA, risk assessments, and QA testing per GMP/ISO standards
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain to optimize cost, material usage, and sustainability
- Validate performance through lab tests, packaging line trials, and shelf-life studies
- Manage vendor relationships and qualification of packaging materials and converters
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using DOE, Six Sigma, and lean tools
Qualification
- BS or MS in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field
- 5+ years packaging engineering experience in consumer goods or food/beverage industries
- Strong knowledge of packaging design principles, materials, barrier properties, and shelf-life testing
- Experience with DOE, Six Sigma, or lean manufacturing; proficiency in Minitab or similar
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO 9001, FDA/Regulatory requirements; knowledge of environmental sustainability standards
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, Creo) and prototype testing; strong project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; ability to influence stakeholders
