Job description

Join ApexPack Global, a leader in sustainable packaging solutions, where innovation meets practical manufacturing. We are seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development from concept to launch for consumer goods brands. This role blends material science, design, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver packaging that protects product integrity, reduces waste, and enhances brand experience.

At ApexPack, you will work with supply chain, R&D, and manufacturing teams to design, test, and scale packaging solutions that meet regulatory and performance standards while optimizing cost and sustainability.

Responsibility

  • Lead packaging design and development from concept through commercialization, ensuring alignment with brand and sustainability goals.
  • Select materials, plan and execute testing (physical, mechanical, barrier, and compatibility) and validate performance against specs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and QA to ensure scalable, cost-effective production processes.
  • Manage design records, BOMs, test protocols, validation reports, and change control documentation.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives—recyclability, reduced material usage, and lifecycle assessments—and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead NPI programs, risk assessments, and stage-gate reviews to ensure on-time, on-budget launches.
  • Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to standard work, best practices, and continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of packaging development experience in consumer-packaged goods.
  • Strong knowledge of materials (flexible/rigid plastics, paper, laminates, adhesives) and packaging technologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and packaging simulation tools; familiarity with DOE and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (FDA, EU) and sustainability standards (e.g., recyclability labeling, compostability).
  • Excellent project management, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on lab testing, data analysis, and problem-solving mindset with a data-driven approach.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as required.
