Job description

Join a market-leading energy team as a Senior Petroleum Engineer in Houston. You will lead field development, reservoir characterization, and production optimization to maximize asset value. This is a hands-on, strategic role for an engineer who blends technical excellence with business insight.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will drive integrated field plans, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with geology, drilling, and facilities to unlock value across the life cycle of our assets.

Responsibility

  • Lead or co-lead field development planning, including asset modeling, well placement, and stimulation design.
  • Conduct reservoir characterization, history matching, decline curve analysis, EUR estimation, and reserve reporting.
  • Design well completions and oversee drilling and completion activities to optimize economics and safety.
  • Perform reservoir simulations using industry-standard tools and translate results into actionable field development strategies.
  • Monitor production performance, identify optimization opportunities, and implement artificial lift and enhanced oil recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with geology, geophysics, facilities, and operations to ensure integrated development plans and safe operations.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and present technical findings to stakeholders and executives.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering; Master’s preferred
  • 7–12 years of upstream oil and gas experience with emphasis on reservoir engineering, well planning, and production optimization
  • Proficiency with reservoir simulation tools (e.g., CMG, ECLIPSE, or similar) and production analytics
  • Strong understanding of reservoir management, decline curve analysis, EUR estimation, and field development planning
  • Experience with hydraulic fracturing, stimulation, completion design, artificial lift, and production surveillance
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset, strong communication skills, and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Willingness to travel and relocate to Houston area as needed
