Job description
BlueHorizon Energy is seeking a Senior Petroleum Engineer to drive field development and optimization across our onshore and offshore assets based in Houston, TX. You will lead technical evaluations, reservoir optimization, and production strategies to maximize value while ensuring safety and environmental compliance. This role provides visibility to senior leadership and opportunities to mentor engineers on a variety of projects.
What you will do includes leading reservoir studies, supporting drilling and completion activities, and developing robust economic analyses to guide investment decisions. You will collaborate with geoscientists, drilling, facilities, and production teams to deliver integrated field development plans and value-driven performance improvements.
Responsibility
- Lead reservoir characterization, development planning, and production optimization across wells and fields.
- Develop drilling, completion, and stimulation strategies to maximize recovery and safety.
- Build and run reservoir simulations, analyze data, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with geoscience, drilling, facilities, and production teams to deliver integrated field development plans.
- Evaluate economic scenarios and perform risk assessments to support capital allocation decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the organization.
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards and regulatory requirements in all projects.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering; master's preferred.
- 8+ years of upstream petroleum engineering experience in field development and production optimization.
- Proficiency with reservoir simulation tools (Eclipse, CMG) and data analytics platforms.
- Strong understanding of drilling, completions, artificial lift, EOR, and well performance analysis.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing abilities; PE license preferred.
- Willingness to relocate to Houston or work on a hybrid basis as required.
