Job description

TerraNova Energy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Engineer to join our Houston office. This role focuses on optimizing reservoir performance, production systems, and field development plans across onshore and offshore projects. You will collaborate with engineering teams, geoscientists, and operations to deliver value from discovery through production.

As a key member of the reservoir and production engineering team, you will drive technically rigorous solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and advancing our data-driven approach to field optimization.

Responsibility

  • Lead reservoir simulations and production forecasting using industry-standard software.
  • Develop and optimize field development plans and well trajectories to maximize recovery and efficiency.
  • Evaluate enhanced oil recovery projects and waterflood/well stimulation strategies; optimize lift methods.
  • Collaborate with drilling, completions, and facilities teams to ensure safe, cost-effective well design and operation.
  • Conduct economic analyses, risk assessments, and decision-quality studies for field development.
  • Mentor junior engineers; contribute to technical standards, workflows, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies and regulatory compliance across projects.
  • Communicate results to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, providing leadership in project execution.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in reservoir and production engineering within oil and gas.
  • Proficiency with reservoir simulation tools (Eclipse, CMG, Nexus) and production optimization software.
  • Strong data analytics skills; programming in Python, SQL, or similar; ability to build dashboards and models.
  • In-depth knowledge of EOR methods (waterflood, polymer, surfactant, gas lift) and well stimulation.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management capabilities; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred; eligible to obtain Texas PE.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations and international sites as needed.
