Join our leading renewable energy company as a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer in Austin, TX. Our company specializes in solar and wind energy development, energy storage optimization, and grid modernization. You will lead technical design, perform energy modeling, and collaborate with owners, EPCs, and utilities to deliver scalable clean energy solutions.
In this role, you will drive design reviews, ensure code compliance, and contribute to techno-economic assessments that shape project viability. This is a fast-paced, impact-focused role suitable for engineers who want to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.
Responsibility
- Lead the technical design and optimization of solar PV, wind, and energy storage systems across commercial and utility-scale projects.
- Develop and validate energy models (PVsyst, Homer, Helios, or equivalent) to forecast production and financial viability.
- Coordinate with surveys, civil, electrical, and project teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while meeting safety and quality standards.
- Conduct due diligence, data analytics, performance testing, and commissioning activities for new assets.
- Prepare technical specifications, interface with EPC contracts, and support permitting and interconnection processes with utilities and regulators.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the engineering practice.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust, scalable energy solutions.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Renewable Energy Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of renewable energy design, development, or project engineering experience (utility-scale preferred).
- Strong proficiency in energy modeling tools (PVsyst, Homer, Helios, SAM) and data analysis (Excel, Python, MATLAB).
- Solid knowledge of electrical design, interconnection standards, and grid integration; familiarity with NEC/IEEE standards.
- Proven project management capabilities and excellent stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, PVsyst drawing modules) and construction documentation for permitting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and work across cross-functional teams.
