Job description

NovaBio Labs is seeking a Senior Research Biologist to join our Cambridge, MA team. This is a full-time role focused on leading end-to-end biology projects that translate to therapeutic and diagnostic advances. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, execute, and interpret experiments, ensure data integrity, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving innovative assay development, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to grant proposals and manuscript preparation.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of high-impact biological experiments across cell culture, molecular biology, and omics workflows.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate assays such as PCR/qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry, and high-content screening.
  • Manage a small team of scientists, provide mentorship, and ensure rigorous data quality, documentation, and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into project milestones, tech transfer, and publications.
  • Design and implement statistical analyses and data visualization to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, regulatory discussions, and manuscript drafting.
  • Maintain compliance with lab safety, GLP/GMP practices where applicable, and quality systems.

Qualification

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field; or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and bioassay development.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience with a track record of team growth.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using R, Python, and visualization tools; strong statistical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; publications or grants a plus.
  • Experience with gene editing technologies (CRISPR), sequencing, and omics workflows is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
