Innovative Scholar Labs is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead impactful, interdisciplinary work in computational neuroscience and data science at our Cambridge, MA location. The role combines independent research, team leadership, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary scholars to advance theory and practical applications in academic settings.
We value curiosity, rigorous methodology, and a track record of translating findings into publications, software tools, or policy insights. The successful candidate will design experiments, oversee data collection and analysis, supervise graduate students and postdocs, and contribute to grant writing and strategic planning.
Responsibility
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of cutting-edge research projects in computational neuroscience and data science.
- Develop and validate computational models, data pipelines, and experimental protocols to drive discovery.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables across collaborative teams.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior staff; foster a culture of reproducible science.
- Lead grant applications, track budgets, and report on progress to sponsors and stakeholders.
- Publish high-quality manuscripts; present findings at conferences and seminars; contribute to open science and data sharing initiatives.
- Coordinate with institutional partners to align research with educational and societal impact goals.
Qualification
- PhD in computational neuroscience, data science, statistics, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of research experience with a proven record of impactful publications and project leadership.
- Strong programming skills in Python and R; experience with MATLAB and high-performance computing environments.
- Experience in experimental design, data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines and mentor students.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced academic setting.
