Vertex Geomatics Group is hiring a Senior Surveyor to lead field operations and support project delivery across municipal and private sector projects in the Houston area. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with data processing, office coordination, and client communication. As a Senior Surveyor, you will oversee survey crews, verify data quality, and ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. You will partner with engineers, project managers, and GIS specialists to translate field data into accurate design deliverables.

Responsibility

  • Plan and lead land and utility surveys, establishing accurate control networks and benchmarks.
  • Prepare boundary and topographic surveys for design and permit applications.
  • Direct field crews, collect high-quality data using total stations, GNSS, and digital levels.
  • Process and QA/QC survey data using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and GIS tools.
  • Develop finished survey deliverables such as plats, drawings, and maps and coordinate QA with project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and client requirements.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and training.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications to deliver on time.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field; PLS license is preferred in Texas.
  • Minimum 5 years of field surveying experience, including boundary and topographic work.
  • Proficiency with surveying instruments and software, including total stations, GNSS, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and GIS.
  • Strong understanding of legal descriptions, boundary traverse, and QA/QC processes.
  • Experience managing field crews and coordinating multi-discipline teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
