NorthBridge Logistics is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager to join our Chicago-based team. This position leads the design and execution of our end-to-end transportation strategy, focusing on service excellence, cost optimization, and compliance.
In this high-impact role, you will partner with Sales, Warehousing, and Procurement to ensure safe, on-time delivery while driving continuous improvement across the network.

Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end transportation planning across all modes, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.
- Oversee carrier management and route optimization to reduce cost per mile.
- Monitor KPIs (OTIF, cost per mile, exception rates) and implement corrective actions.
- Negotiate freight rates and service terms with carriers and 3PLs.
- Collaborate with warehousing, procurement, and customer service to align operations and service levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean/Six Sigma) to enhance efficiency and safety compliance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with FMCSA/DOT and hours-of-service requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing transportation team.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field.
- 5+ years in transportation/logistics with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience with TMS (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle TMS) and ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation skills and track record of cost optimization.
- Data-driven with advanced Excel skills; SQL or BI tools a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
