BlueWave Environmental is seeking a highly skilled Senior Waste Management Engineer to join our Denver team. This role leads strategic waste programs, drives regulatory compliance, and partners with operations to optimize disposal, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
As a key member of our environmental services group, you will design, implement, and monitor programs that reduce costs, minimize environmental impact, and improve diversion rates across multiple facilities.

Responsibility
- Lead the design, optimization, and governance of municipal and industrial waste programs, including collection, recycling, and disposal strategies.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with RCRA, DOT, EPCRA, and state/local requirements; maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, scopes, and timelines for waste initiatives across multiple facilities.
- Collaborate with operations, logistics, and sustainability teams to drive measurable improvements in diversion and cost reduction.
- Analyze data to identify optimization opportunities, create performance metrics, and report on progress to leadership and clients.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring for waste services and equipment.
- Provide technical mentorship and contribute to ongoing environmental training and best practices.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in waste management, environmental engineering, or sustainability projects.
- In-depth knowledge of RCRA, DOT, EPCRA, and relevant federal/state regulations.
- Experience with auditing, recycling programs, landfill operations, and waste-to-energy considerations.
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and waste modeling tools.
- Project management experience (PMP or equivalent) and demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills; ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
