We are seeking a results-driven Senior Waste Management Project Engineer to steward complex projects from concept through execution. You will drive sustainable waste reduction programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with municipal clients, industrial sites, and internal teams to deliver value and measurable impact.
As a key member of our engineering group, you will translate client needs into actionable project plans, manage cross-functional teams, and optimize operations for safety, efficiency, and environmental performance. Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end waste management projects from scoping and design through construction and commissioning.
- Develop and optimize recycling, organics diversion, and energy recovery programs for municipal and industrial clients.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, and local permits.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, schedules, and risk, delivering on-time, on-budget results.
- Coordinate with clients, regulators, vendors, and internal teams to align project goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and environmental assessments with clear, data-driven insights.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining regulatory compliance and safety.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; PE or CEM certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in waste management, environmental compliance, or related engineering roles.
- Strong knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, waste characterization, and regulatory reporting.
- Proven project management experience with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and client management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, MS Office, and GIS software; experience with modeling and ERP systems a plus.
- Safety-focused mindset with a track record of maintaining high EHS standards on field projects.
