We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist to lead regulatory compliance, program development, and client-facing initiatives in the Austin region. You will collaborate with operations, engineering, and environmental teams to design scalable waste programs, optimize performance, and reduce environmental impact while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibility
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste management programs for municipal and corporate clients, ensuring efficiency and regulatory alignment.
- Lead compliance efforts with EPA, RCRA, OSHA, DOT hazmat regulations and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste characterization, packaging, labeling, and proper disposal.
- Collaborate with field operations to optimize collection routes, equipment utilization, and fuel efficiency.
- Manage environmental risk assessments, permit renewals, and remediation projects as needed.
- Prepare executive dashboards and reports tracking KPIs, budgets, and program performance.
- Drive recycling, organics diversion, and waste reduction initiatives with clients and internal teams.
- Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior staff and technicians.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in waste management, environmental compliance, or related operations.
- Strong knowledge of RCRA, EPA, OSHA, DOT hazmat regulations, and permitting processes.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, and tools such as Excel; familiarity with GIS and waste software is a plus (e.g., SAP, ArcGIS).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Project management experience or certification (PMP) is a plus; ability to travel up to 25%.
- HAZWOPER training or certification is preferred.
