Join AquaGuard International as a Senior Water and Sanitation Engineer to lead transformative WASH projects in Nairobi. You will design, implement, and oversee sustainable water supply and sanitation systems, collaborating with communities, regulators, and partners to improve access to safe water and hygiene services. Responsibility
- Lead the design, optimization, and implementation of water supply, wastewater, and sanitation infrastructure projects from concept to commissioning.
- Develop project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
- Coordinate with government agencies, utilities, contractors, and communities to ensure alignment with standards and community needs.
- Prepare technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and Bill of Quantities; review contractor submittals and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and promote climate-resilient water management practices.
- Lead field supervision, quality assurance, and commissioning activities; mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Monitor performance indicators, conduct post-implementation reviews, and support operation and maintenance teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; Masters preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in water and sanitation projects, preferably in public or development sectors.
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proficiency with design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET, HEC-RAS; GIS experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of WASH standards, water treatment, distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and handwashing promotion.
- Project management experience, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, adapt to field conditions, and manage remote or underserved communities with cultural sensitivity.
