Join AquaLead Solutions, a leading water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) organization dedicated to delivering sustainable water access and sanitation services across Kenya. We are seeking a Senior Water & Sanitation Engineer to lead design, implementation, and monitoring of WASH projects in Nairobi and surrounding regions.
Your role will combine technical leadership with field collaboration to translate community needs into high-impact, resilient water supply and sanitation systems. You will oversee design, ensure quality control, and work with partners to deliver safe, reliable services that improve health and livelihoods.
Responsibility
- Lead technical design and oversight of WASH interventions, including water supply, distribution networks, and sanitation facilities.
- Develop hydraulic models, schematic drawings, and bill of quantities; ensure designs meet local codes and donor requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and environmental and social impact analyses for projects.
- Coordinate with government authorities, NGOs, utilities, and community leaders to align objectives and secure approvals.
- Manage project budgets, procurement, scheduling, and donor reporting; monitor progress against milestones.
- Lead monitoring, evaluation, and data-driven improvements to optimize performance and sustainability.
- Mentor junior engineers and field teams; provide technical training and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure compliance with KEBS standards, WHO/UNICEF WASH guidelines, and ethical/quality standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of WASH project experience, including water supply, sanitation, and wastewater systems; NGO/development sector experience preferred.
- Proficiency with design and modelling tools (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, EPANET) and GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS).
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan standards, donor requirements, and WASH best practices; familiar with KEBS and WHO/UNICEF guidelines.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and reporting skills with a track record of delivering on time and on budget.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to work with diverse teams and communities.
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification; ability to practice in Kenya.
- Fluency in English; local language skills an advantage.
