Join a leading global NGO dedicated to delivering reliable water and sanitation services in Lagos, Nigeria. We are seeking a results-driven Senior Water & Sanitation Engineer to lead technical assessments, design, and project delivery. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, partners, and communities to implement sustainable WASH solutions that improve health and livelihoods.
As a key member of our technical team, you will oversee needs assessments, hydraulic modeling, and the design of water supply systems, wastewater solutions, and sanitation facilities. You will also drive construction supervision, quality assurance, and capacity building for local staff to ensure long-term impact.
Responsibility
- Lead technical feasibility studies, demand assessments, and hydraulic modeling for water supply and sanitation systems.
- Design, engineer, and supervise the implementation of water treatment, distribution networks, and sanitation facilities.
- Develop project plans, budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies; monitor progress and adapt as needed.
- Coordinate with government agencies, partners, and communities to ensure alignment with national WASH policies and donor requirements.
- Oversee construction supervision, commissioning, QA/QC, and handover to operations teams.
- Prepare technical reports, design documents, O&M manuals, and training materials for capacity building.
- Monitor performance indicators, collect data, and prepare donor progress reports and presentations.
- Support grant proposals, cost estimation, and technical budgeting to secure funding for program expansion.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; master's preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in WASH projects, preferably with NGOs or public sector.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (EPANET, WaterGEMS) and CAD/GIS tools (AutoCAD, QGIS).
- Strong understanding of water treatment, distribution, wastewater management, and sanitation infrastructure.
- Experience with project management, budgeting, and donor reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Professional certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus; fluency in English required, local language advantageous.
- Willingness to travel within the region and to field sites as needed.
