Join Ideals Recruitment as a Service Technician specializing in Crane and Hoist Systems. This role sits on client sites in Tuas and the wider West Region, where you will deliver critical on-site service, repairs, installations, and load testing to ensure safe and reliable operation of crane and hoist equipment.
You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components, including cranes, hoists, wire ropes, braking systems, controllers, and safety devices. You will perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, inspection, and component replacements to maximize uptime and safety. You will install, commission, and test new crane systems to meet exact specifications, and you will conduct load tests and functional verifications in line with industry standards. You will also document results, prepare service reports, and communicate findings clearly to clients and internal teams.
As a trusted on-site technician, you will adopt a proactive safety mindset, follow rigorous on-site safety procedures, and maintain accurate service records and safety checklists. You will work closely with clients to minimize downtime, provide practical operator guidance, and deliver basic training on safe operation and routine maintenance where appropriate. Responsibility
- On-site inspection, diagnostics, and fault isolation of crane and hoist systems, including wire rope, brakes, controllers, and safety devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, and component replacements to maximize uptime and safety.
- Install, commission, and test new crane and hoist equipment according to project specifications.
- Conduct load testing and safety verifications in accordance with applicable standards; prepare and submit service reports.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults; repair or replace defective parts; recalibrate controls and limit switches.
- Maintain accurate documentation, parts usage, and service history; ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide on-site guidance and basic training to client operators; communicate technical information clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely parts availability and service scheduling.
Qualification
- Diploma or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with crane and hoist systems, including maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical subsystems; ability to read wiring diagrams and mechanical schematics.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a proven track record of on-site fault resolution.
- Commitment to safety with experience following on-site safety protocols and conducting risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to explain technical concepts to clients clearly.
- Valid driving license for on-site travel (e.g., Class 3 or equivalent) and the ability to work across multiple client sites.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, respond to urgent service requests, and adapt to dynamic project schedules.
