Job description
BlueSea Logistics is seeking a results-driven Shipping Operations Manager to lead cross-border freight and shipping operations from Singapore. You will coordinate carrier relationships, optimize routing, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced maritime environment. This role partners with Sales, Procurement, and IT to deliver exceptional service and cost efficiency across all shipments.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end shipping operations for imports and exports, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
- Manage carrier relationships, negotiate freight rates, and monitor performance against SLAs.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs clearance, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Sales, and IT to optimize routing, documentation, and TMS/ERP systems.
- Oversee documentation accuracy (bills of lading, manifests, commercial invoices, certificates of origin).
- Drive process improvements, KPI reporting, and risk management across shipping operations.
- Lead and develop a team of shipping coordinators; manage training and escalations; budget oversight.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field; 5+ years in shipping/logistics with leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of international trade compliance, incoterms, and customs procedures.
- Proficiency with TMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle) and data analytics; advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in port operations, container shipping, and multimodal transport.
- Fluent English; Mandarin or other languages a plus.
