Join Astra Maritime Group as a Shipping Operations Specialist in Singapore. We are a fast-growing leader in global freight and logistics solutions. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on operations to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-efficient shipments across APAC and beyond.
As part of our dynamic team, you will coordinate cross-border shipments, optimize carrier performance, manage documentation, and collaborate with sales, customs brokers, and warehouse partners to deliver exceptional customer service.
Responsibility
- Coordinate end-to-end domestic and international shipments, ensuring on-time delivery and accuracy of documentation.
- Negotiate rates and terms with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to optimize cost and service levels.
- Monitor shipment progress, resolve disruptions, and communicate proactively with customers and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable import/export regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation (bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
- Maintain accurate data in the TMS/ERP system, generate performance reports, and analyze key metrics.
- Collaborate with warehousing and inventory teams to coordinate inbound and outbound activities.
- Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years in shipping/logistics, freight forwarding, or equivalent roles.
- Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, INCOTERMS, HS codes, and customs procedures.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and data accuracy capabilities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluent in English; additional language (e.g., Mandarin, Malay, Tamil) is a plus.
