Insight Daily News is seeking a Staff Reporter to join our New York City newsroom. We value curiosity, accuracy, and fearless storytelling. This role blends investigative reporting, enterprise features, and rapid-response coverage across digital platforms. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, develops sources, and collaborates with editors, photographers, and data journalists to produce compelling, accurate stories that inform and engage a diverse audience.
Location: New York, NY. This is a full-time position based in our modern Manhattan newsroom with hybrid options.
Responsibility
- Produce high-impact investigative and enterprise stories for digital and print, with rigorous sourcing and verification.
- Develop and maintain trusted sources; conduct in-depth interviews and data analysis.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and data journalists to craft multi-platform storytelling (text, video, graphics).
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and editorial standards (AP style).
- Pitch ideas, own story development from concept to publication, including follow-ups.
- Verify facts, identify new angles, and assess public-interest considerations.
- Act as a newsroom ambassador in NYC; participate in editorial meetings and policy discussions.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of reporting experience in a reputable newsroom or digital outlet.
- Strong investigative mindset with proven track record of enterprise stories.
- Excellent reporting, interviewing, and fact-checking skills; proficiency with data journalism tools (SQL, Excel, or similar) is a plus.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
- Experience with multimedia storytelling, including video, audio, and graphics; working knowledge of CMS platforms.
- Commitment to accuracy, ethics, and diverse perspectives; flawless AP or house style editing.
