Join Aurora Arts Collective, a leading performing arts venue in New York, dedicated to presenting world class productions and developing local talent. We are seeking an experienced Stage Manager to orchestrate performances, ensure safety, and deliver seamless shows from load in to strike.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, meticulous organization, and collaborative spirit to support directors, designers, and crew across multiple productions each season.
Responsibility
- Oversee all stage operations for live performances, including call times, cues, transitions, and backstage workflow.
- Lead rehearsal and technical run-throughs with directors and production teams to ensure artistic vision is achieved.
- Prepare and maintain cue sheets, production calendars, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate with lighting, sound, set, costume, and props departments to ensure timely and accurate execution.
- Manage on-site safety, compliance with union agreements, and set protocol adherence during performances.
- Supervise stage crew during load in, rehearsals, performances, and strike, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Communicate clearly with producers, cast, crew, and front of house to mitigate issues and maintain show continuity.
Qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years of stage management experience in professional theatre or performing arts venues.
- Proven ability to manage complex cueing, rehearsals, and multi-team coordination under tight deadlines.
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, fire codes, and risk assessment for live productions.
- Familiarity with production software and scheduling tools; proficiency with MS Office or Google Workspace.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by show schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts or related field preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to changing production needs.
