Lumina Theatre Collective, a premier hub for contemporary performing arts in New York City, invites applications for a proactive Stage Manager to join our dynamic team. This role blends rigorous organization with creative collaboration to deliver exceptional live theatre experiences for diverse audiences.

As Stage Manager, you will oversee rehearsals and performances, call cues, manage cast and crew, ensure safety and compliance, and maintain meticulous production records from load-in to strike. You will work closely with the director, designers, and technical staff to preserve artistic intent while delivering consistent, high-quality performances.

Responsibility

  • Lead all rehearsal and show calls, ensuring precise timing, clear communication, and smooth transitions.
  • Coordinate day-to-day on-site production logistics across runs, including load-in, tech rehearsals, performances, and strike.
  • Collaborate with directors, designers, stage technicians, and front-of-house teams to safeguard artistic intent and safety.
  • Maintain and update prompt books, cue sheets, and essential show paperwork for every production.
  • Manage safety protocols, risk assessments, emergency procedures, and incident reporting.
  • Oversee cast and crew communication, scheduling, breaks, and conflict resolution to maintain production momentum.
  • Monitor equipment and inventory, coordinate repairs, and liaise with vendors as needed.
  • Lead post-show debriefs and contribute to continuous process improvements for future productions.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, Production Management, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of stage management experience in live theatre or performing arts venues.
  • Strong knowledge of stage operations, call systems (QLab, Limelight, etc.), and show documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities; calm under pressure during performances.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as schedules require.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork, with a collaborative approach to artistic creation.
  • Commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and safe working environments.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Workspace, and production software; basic budgeting experience a plus.
