Job description

Aurora Stage Productions is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Stage Manager to lead our New York City productions. The Stage Manager partners with directors, designers, and performers to ensure rehearsals and performances run flawlessly, maintain show integrity, and deliver an outstanding audience experience.

As the heart of the production, you will organize schedules, track cues, manage call sheets, and oversee backstage operations from load‑in through final curtain. This is a hands‑on role for a collaborative professional who thrives in a fast‑paced theater environment.

Note: This role requires flexibility with rehearsal and show times, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibility

  • Coordinate rehearsals, blocking, and cueing with the director and production team
  • Create and distribute accurate call sheets, rehearsal reports, and production calendars
  • Track and execute stage cues, prop management, set changes, and timing during tech and performances
  • Lead backstage operations, safety protocols, and ensure smooth transitions between scenes
  • Maintain the show bible, rehearsal logs, and all production paperwork
  • Serve as primary liaison among cast, crew, and venue, ensuring clear communication
  • Manage on‑site problem solving, emergencies, and contingency planning

Qualification

  • 3+ years of professional stage management experience in theater
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills; ability to multitask
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and long rehearsal periods
  • Proficiency with stage management tools and tech systems (call sheets, cueing, show control software)
  • Strong attention to detail and calm problem‑solving abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Theater or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and production paperwork; basic budgeting experience a plus
