We are seeking a Stage Production Manager to lead the production lifecycle from rehearsals to curtain call. As a Stage Production Manager, you will partner with directors, designers, stage crew, and venues to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget productions that meet artistic vision and technical requirements. This is a hands-on, collaborative role with opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic arts environment.
Responsibilities include overseeing technical rehearsals, developing production schedules, managing budgets, coordinating vendor and union relationships, ensuring safety compliance, supervising on-site operations during performances, and contributing to audience experience through seamless production planning.
Responsibility
- Oversee all technical aspects of stage productions from load-in to strike, ensuring safety and artistic integrity.
- Develop and manage comprehensive production calendars, timelines, and action logs for rehearsals, tech runs, and performances.
- Coordinate with directors, designers, stage managers, and crew to align on requirements and deliverables.
- Manage production budgets, procurement, scheduling, and vendor relationships to meet financial targets.
- Ensure compliance with venue policies, union rules, licensing, and safety protocols; implement risk assessments and incident reporting.
- Lead on-site supervision during performances, rehearsals, and load-in/out, resolving issues quickly and calmly.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Front-of-House teams to ensure a cohesive audience experience.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, Production, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 3 years of stage management or production coordination experience in live theatre or performance venues.
- Strong budgeting skills with experience tracking expenses, forecasts, and vendor contracts.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, tech weekends, and travel as required by production schedules.
- Proficiency with production software and tools; familiarity with venue operations and safety standards.
- Experience with union crews and licensing is a plus; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
