We are seeking a System Engineer - Control to join our Malaysia team in Petaling, Selangor. In this role, you will design, implement, and commission control solutions for material handling equipment, conveyors, palletizers, and automated storage systems. You will collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and field service teams to ensure reliable performance, safety, and uptime.

As a System Engineer - Control, you will translate customer requirements into scalable control architectures, select and program PLCs, configure HMI/SCADA interfaces, and validate performance through rigorous testing. You will support installation and commissioning on-site, troubleshoot daily operations, and provide technical documentation and training to customers and internal teams. Responsibility

  • Lead the design, configuration, and integration of control systems for automated material handling equipment, conveyors, palletizers, and related hardware.
  • Develop and validate PLC programs (Siemens S7-1200/1500, Allen-Bradley) and configure HMI/SCADA interfaces to meet project requirements.
  • Commission and start-up field installations, perform on-site testing, and optimize system performance for reliability and safety.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and service teams to deliver complete automation solutions on time and within budget.
  • Create technical documentation, including control narratives, wiring diagrams, test plans, and commissioning reports; provide knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
  • Provide technical support during warranty and after-sales service; analyze and resolve field issues to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and design reviews; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within Swisslog's automation portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, and actively share learnings with the team.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in industrial automation, PLC programming (Siemens S7-1500/1200, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix), and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong knowledge of control system design, instrumentation, sensors, drives, and network communications (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, PROFINET).
  • Hands-on experience with on-site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated systems in manufacturing or logistics environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer-facing skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for site installations and service engagements (as required).
  • Familiarity with safety standards (IEC 61508/61511, ISO 13849) and project documentation.
  • Relevant certifications in PLC programming or industrial automation are a plus.
