You will work closely with customers, engineers, and project teams to install, commission, service, and troubleshoot complex equipment in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia. You will be responsible for hands-on installation, commissioning, and maintenance of robotics and inverter-based welding systems at customer sites, diagnosing issues, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. You will provide on-site and remote technical support, document service activities, and collaborate with sales and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into practical improvements. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to safety and quality, and the ability to train customers and their operators on equipment operation and best practices.
With a focus on Industry 4.0, you will contribute to continuous improvement by collecting performance data, supporting upgrades and retrofits, and participating in preventive maintenance programs. You will engage with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions that meet production goals, while maintaining high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction. Responsibility
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and service robotics and inverter-based welding systems at customer sites to ensure optimal performance and minimum downtime.
- Diagnose faults using electrical and mechanical analysis; implement corrective actions and verify results.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support, mentoring operators and maintenance staff.
- Lead preventive maintenance programs, schedule routine visits, and manage spare parts to minimize production interruptions.
- Prepare commissioning documentation, service reports, and technical manuals for each site.
- Deliver customer training sessions on system operation, safety, and maintenance best practices.
- Support upgrades, retrofits, and software/firmware updates to keep equipment current and compliant with safety standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of field service experience with industrial robotics, PLCs, servo drives, and VFDs/inverters.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills; ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with welding automation equipment; familiarity with process control and quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Malay bilingual preferred; customer-focused.
- Willingness to travel within Malaysia and neighboring countries as required; valid driver's license.
- Proactive, self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and teamwork.
- Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 13849/IEC 62061 is a plus.
