Based in Ipoh, Perak, we seek a motivated Test Technician - Development to join our engineering team. This role focuses on supporting product development cycles, performing electrical and functional testing on advanced laser and materials devices, and delivering reliable data to guide design decisions. You will collaborate with engineers, technicians and suppliers to validate prototypes, characterize performance, and ensure products meet stringent quality and environmental standards. Responsibility
- Design and execute electrical, functional, and environmental tests on development prototypes of laser and engineered-material products.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and data collection methods to ensure reliable, reproducible results.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers) with strict traceability.
- Collaborate with R&D, Design for Testing teams and Manufacturing to support design validation, failure analysis, and yield improvement.
- Analyze test data, generate clear test reports, and communicate findings to engineering and program stakeholders.
- Identify root causes of test failures, drive containment actions, and help implement permanent corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, maintain organized documentation, and safeguard sample handling and data integrity.
Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience performing electrical and functional testing in an R&D or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition tools.
- Familiarity with lasers, photonics, and safety protocols is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to document procedures and results clearly.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and adapt to dynamic project scopes.
- Knowledge of basic statistical methods and familiarity with quality systems (ISO/IPC/5S) is a plus.
