Join Crescendo Theatre Collective, a premier New York City stage company, as a Theater Production Manager. You will guide cross-functional teams through the entire life cycle of productions, from pre-production planning to curtain calls, ensuring artistic excellence and operational reliability.
This role blends creative collaboration with logistical discipline, balancing the needs of directors, designers, actors, and crews with budgetary realities to deliver compelling live theatre experiences.
Responsibility
- Oversee all aspects of production planning from pre-production through post-show wrap, ensuring timely delivery of all components.
- Manage budgets, track expenses, and optimize resources to maximize artistic impact within financial constraints.
- Create and maintain production schedules, coordinating with directors, designers, stage management, crews, and vendors.
- Lead casting and rehearsal coordination with the artistic team, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Coordinate with venues and technical teams on set design, lighting, sound, props, and costumes.
- Ensure compliance with union contracts, labor laws, safety regulations, and accessibility standards.
- Manage risk assessment, incident reporting, and contingency planning; communicate progress to stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Arts Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 5+ years of production management or equivalent experience in live theater or performing arts.
- Proven ability to manage budgets up to six figures and negotiate with vendors.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Experience with scheduling software and project management tools; proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with script management tools is a plus.
- Understanding of safety, accessibility, and union guidelines; ability to implement risk management strategies.
