We are a premier New York City theater company producing innovative contemporary plays and classic revivals. We are seeking an experienced Stage Manager to ensure flawless performances, seamless cueing, and a positive, collaborative backstage environment. As a Stage Manager, you will coordinate with directors, designers, and performers to manage rehearsals, cue sheets, calling cues, and show rundowns. You will ensure safety, maintain show discipline, and uphold the highest production standards.
Responsibility
- Call cues and manage all stage movements during performances with precision and clarity.
- Coordinate rehearsals, tech weeks, and load-in/load-out schedules to ensure on-time production milestones.
- Maintain accurate show documents, prompt book, cue sheets, and production calendars.
- Collaborate closely with directors, designers, and stage crew to execute the artistic vision.
- Ensure safety, room discipline, and compliance with venue policies and union agreements.
- Troubleshoot technical or artistic issues in real-time and communicate effectively with the team.
Qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional stage management experience in live theater, preferably in NYC.
- Deep knowledge of stage terminology, calling cues, and rehearsal management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse crew under pressure.
- Strong organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset.
- Experience with unions, contracts, safety protocols, and incident reporting.
- Proficiency with QLab, ETC lighting consoles, sound, and automation software; comfort with tech-driven workflows.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, tech weeks, and travel as required.
