BrightStage Theater Collective is seeking a passionate Theatre Production Manager to oversee all production operations for our season of innovative plays and musicals in New York City. This role blends project management, creative collaboration, and operational excellence. You will partner with artistic leadership, designers, stage technicians, and venue staff to deliver exceptional performances in every show.
As a leader in our company, you will steward schedules, budgets, and safety protocols, while maintaining clear, collaborative communication across all departments.
Responsibility
- Oversee production planning, scheduling, and budgeting for all mainstage and fringe productions, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.
- Coordinate rehearsals, load-ins, tech runs, previews, and strikes with the production team and venues.
- Collaborate with directors, designers, stage managers, and vendors to realize artistic visions while maintaining feasibility and safety.
- Maintain comprehensive production calendars, status reports, and post-show evaluations to optimize future seasons.
- Lead a diverse team of production staff, stage crew, and volunteers; provide coaching and ensure professional development.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, union contracts, and venue requirements; manage risk assessments and incident reporting.
- Manage procurement, contracting, and inventory of technical equipment and materials.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Theater, Production, Arts Administration, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in theatre production, stage management, or technical theater managing multiple shows.
- Proven budgeting, scheduling, and vendor management skills; comfortable with production software and digital collaboration tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities; proactive collaborator.
- Working knowledge of safety protocols, OSHA standards, and rigging fundamentals.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel to venues as required.
