Northwest Theological Institute invites applications for a full-time Theology Lecturer to join our faculty in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will combine rigorous scholarship with engaging pedagogy and a strong commitment to inclusive, student centered learning. This role emphasizes excellence in teaching across undergraduate and graduate theology courses, curriculum development, mentorship, and active engagement with scholarly communities.
Responsibility
- Teach undergraduate and graduate Theology courses with a focus on critical thinking and practical application.
- Develop and update course syllabi, assessment methods, and learning outcomes aligned with program goals.
- Mentor students, supervise theses and capstone projects, and provide constructive feedback.
- Conduct and publish scholarly research in theology, ethics, or religious studies; present findings at conferences.
- Contribute to departmental governance, committees, and program assessment.
- Engage with local faith communities, interfaith initiatives, and public-facing scholarship.
- Lead or co lead seminars and workshops on contemporary theological issues.
Qualification
- PhD in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field (or ABD with a strong record of progress).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or seminary level; strong classroom management and assessment skills.
- Proven scholarly publication and ongoing research agenda in theology or related disciplines.
- Experience designing innovative curricula and integrating digital tools and active learning strategies.
- Strong communication, mentorship, and collaboration skills; commitment to student success and inclusive education.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Ability to contribute to service roles such as committees, accreditation processes, and program development.
