Beacon City Seminary invites applications for a Theology Lecturer to join our Department of Religious Studies. This full-time faculty position focuses on undergraduate theology courses, with opportunities for research collaboration and community engagement.
We seek a teacher-scholar who can deliver inspiring classes, design compelling syllabi, and mentor students in critical thinking about faith, ethics, and world religions. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, participate in departmental service, and pursue scholarly activities aligned with our mission to nurture thoughtful, responsible leaders.
Responsibility
- Teach theology courses at the undergraduate level (e.g., Introduction to Theology, Ethics, World Religions) and develop engaging syllabi.
- Design and update course materials, assessments, and learning outcomes to align with program goals.
- Mentor undergraduate students, supervise student research, and provide academic advising.
- Engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues; contribute to grant proposals when applicable.
- Contribute to curriculum development and department governance; participate in committee work.
- Participate in community outreach programs and interfaith dialogue initiatives.
- Support accreditation and program assessment processes as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to foster a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Theology or a related field; PhD preferred for tenure-track roles.
- Teaching experience at the college/university level; ability to teach multiple theology subfields.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate across diverse student populations.
- Evidence of scholarly activity or potential for research with plan for publishing.
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and student mentorship.
- Familiarity with assessment, accreditation standards, and curriculum design.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff; resolve conflicts respectfully.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and representation of diverse faith perspectives.
