Beacon Theological Institute invites applications for a full-time Theology Lecturer to join our distinguished faculty in Boston, MA. We seek a scholar committed to rigorous academic inquiry, thoughtful spiritual formation, and the public relevance of theology.
The successful candidate will teach core courses in Theology, Biblical Studies, Ethics, and Church History; mentor students in research and spiritual growth; contribute to curriculum development; participate in scholarly and community engagement; and participate in service to the Institute and wider church communities.
We welcome applicants with earned doctorate or near-completion (ABD) in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, strong research potential, and a shepherding approach to student mentorship. Responsibility
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in theology, biblical studies, ethics, and related fields.
- Develop inclusive, engaging syllabi and assessments; incorporate pedagogical best practices.
- Advise and mentor students on research projects, theses, and capstones.
- Engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues; pursue opportunities for external funding.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment; collaborate with other departments.
- Participate in student life, chapel services, and community outreach.
- Participate in service to the Institute, including committee work and accreditation reviews.
- Represent the Institute at conferences and public events to advance the public understanding of theology.
Qualification
- PhD in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field (or ABD with clear progression).
- Evidence of effective teaching and student mentorship; prior college teaching preferred.
- Strong scholarly potential with a track record or clear plan for research and publication.
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and diverse, equitable learning environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work across interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment; familiarity with learning management systems.
- Willingness to contribute to campus and community life, including service on committees and programs.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States; ability to obtain appropriate credentials as required by the Institute.
