Boston Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Theology. We seek a scholar of outstanding promise who can teach, conduct research, and contribute to a vibrant academic community.
The successful candidate will teach core theology courses, supervise student research, participate in faculty governance, and engage with church and community partners to enrich learning and service.
Responsibility
- Teach undergraduate and graduate theology courses with emphasis on core doctrines, biblical studies, and ethical reflection.
- Develop and update curriculum; advise program development and outcomes assessment.
- Conduct and publish original research; present findings at scholarly conferences.
- Supervise theses and dissertations; mentor students in research methods.
- Engage with churches, faith communities, and external partners to enrich learning and service.
- Participate in faculty governance, service, and program accreditation processes.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts and grant applications to support academic initiatives.
Qualification
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Th.D.) in Theology, Biblical Studies, or a closely related field.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate/graduate level; experience with online/hybrid modalities.
- Strong record of scholarly publications and an active research agenda.
- Ability to teach across diverse student populations and contemporary theological topics.
- Experience supervising student research and mentoring emerging scholars.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and scholarship.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
