As a Tour Guide, youβll tell stories, navigate historic districts, ensure guest safety, and deliver exceptional service while representing our brand with pride.
Role is ideal for in-season or year-round opportunities for motivated professionals who love people, storytelling, and immersive travel experiences.
Responsibility
- Lead engaging walking, bus, and themed tours across historic districts, museums, and waterfronts with clear storytelling.
- Provide accurate historical context, anecdotes, and cultural insights tailored to diverse audiences.
- Ensure guest safety, comfort, and a high level of customer service; manage crowd flow and time.
- Adapt routes and content for language, accessibility, weather, and group size; handle unexpected challenges gracefully.
- Coordinate with local partners, vendors, and site staff; manage ticketing and entry logistics as needed.
- Capture guest feedback, report issues, and uphold brand standards in every interaction.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Charleston's sites, neighborhoods, and current events to enrich tours.
- Assist with onboarding, training new guides, and mentoring junior team members.
Qualification
- Excellent English communication and storytelling skills; public speaking experience required
- Previous tour guiding, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred
- Ability to engage audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds; friendly, professional demeanor
- Strong navigation skills and time management; comfortable leading groups and answering questions
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and seasonal shifts
- Physical stamina to walk and stand for extended periods; comfortable outdoors in varying weather
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; ability to obtain any local permits or licenses
- Additional languages a plus (e.g., Spanish, French, German)
