Responsibility
- Lead engaging, English-language tours for groups of varied sizes, delivering accurate historical and cultural narratives.
- Engage guests with storytelling, humor, and responsive answers to questions while adapting content to diverse audiences.
- Ensure guest safety and comfort, manage crowd flow, and handle on-site logistics (timing, routes, breaks).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local attractions, seasonal offerings, and route details; adjust scripts as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service, handle inquiries, and upsell experiences or tickets when appropriate.
- Collaborate with local partners, museums, and accommodation providers to enhance guest experiences.
- Uphold sustainability and accessibility guidelines; support responsible tourism and inclusivity on all tours.
Qualification
- Excellent spoken English with strong public speaking and storytelling skills.
- Previous tour guiding, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Edinburgh’s history, landmarks, and cultural context; ability to research and learn quickly.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; comfortable working with groups and handling unexpected situations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak tourist seasons; ability to commit to a multi-month schedule.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom; clean background check; first aid certification is a plus.
- Ability to use mobile devices, ticketing apps, and basic software for scheduling and payments.
