Job description
Join Environ Consulting Services (M) Sdn Bhd as a Traffic & Road Design Engineer in Kuala Lumpur and contribute to delivering high-quality road infrastructure projects. As part of a collaborative transport planning and traffic engineering team, you will play a key role in the design, preparation, and delivery of road designs that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainable mobility across Malaysia. You will work on urban streets, highways, and interchanges, balancing practical constraints with best-practice design principles to meet client goals and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will engage with multidisciplinary teams to transform concept ideas into constructible designs, coordinate with clients and authorities, and produce clear documentation for approvals and construction. This position offers opportunities to apply advanced traffic analysis, leadership in design development, and exposure to diverse project scales—from city-centre corridors to regional road networks. If you are motivated to influence safer, more efficient transport systems and enjoy collaborative problem-solving, this is the right environment to grow your career.
We are committed to delivering innovative, compliant, and sustainable road designs that support Malaysia’s mobility and economic growth. We value technical excellence, teamwork, and a proactive attitude to quality and safety. This is a client-focused role that rewards initiative, continuous learning, and professional development.
Responsibility
- Lead and contribute to end-to-end road design projects, from concept through detailed design and construction documentation, ensuring deliverables meet client needs and regulatory standards.
- Perform traffic analysis and capacity assessments using software such as VISSIM, SIDRA, TRANSYT, and Civil 3D/MicroStation to inform geometric design decisions.
- Prepare traffic impact assessments and feasibility studies to support planning approvals and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop geometric designs for urban streets, highways, roundabouts, interchanges, and pedestrian/cyclist facilities in line with Malaysian standards (JKR and local guidelines).
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (drainage, structural, environmental, and authorities) to ensure integrated, constructible designs.
- Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, design reports, and construction drawings; support procurement and construction supervision as needed.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders, presenting design concepts and addressing technical questions while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical reviews to uphold design integrity and professional standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; master's degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of professional experience in traffic engineering and road design, preferably in Malaysia or similar regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and at least one traffic analysis tool (VISSIM, SIDRA, TRANSYT).
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian road design standards (JKR) and local guidelines; ability to apply these in practical designs.
- Professional Registration as a P.Eng/PE or active pursuit (APEL, IEM, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to quality assurance and documentation.
