NovaTransit Logistics is seeking a results-driven Transportation Operations Manager to optimize fleet performance, ensure safety compliance, and lead cross-functional teams across planning, dispatch, maintenance, and customer service. This role combines strategic direction with hands-on execution to deliver cost-effective, on-time service for our customers.
What you will do is shape the daily operations that keep goods moving securely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, leveraging data and technology to drive continuous improvements.
Responsibility
- Develop and implement transportation plans that optimize route efficiency, on-time delivery, and cost control across multiple modes.
- Lead dispatch, fleet maintenance, and warehouse coordination to ensure seamless operations and high service levels.
- Monitor key metrics (OTIF, fuel efficiency, utilization, safety incidents) and implement data-driven improvements.
- Manage carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process automation, digital tools adoption, and SOP development.
- Lead a high-performing operations team, providing coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with sales, customer success, and finance to support capacity planning and budgeting.
- Prepare and present regular operations reports to executives, recommending strategic investments.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or a related field; master’s preferred.
- 7+ years in transportation or logistics operations with progressive leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of routing, fleet optimization, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and safety compliance.
- Proven track record in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Expertise with transportation management systems (TMS), data analytics, and reporting tools (Excel, BI dashboards).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Data-driven mindset with a focus on customer service and operational excellence.
