Join NovaTransit Solutions, a leader in efficient transportation services in Chicago. We are looking for a Transportation Operations Specialist to optimize our fleet, coordinate shipments, and ensure top-tier service.
As a key member of the logistics team, you will partner with dispatch, warehousing, and carrier networks to plan, execute, and monitor daily transportation operations. You will rely on data analytics, industry best practices, and safety compliance to drive performance and customer satisfaction.
Responsibility
- Plan and optimize daily transportation operations for a mixed fleet of trucks and third-party carriers to meet service level agreements.
- Coordinate shipment planning, routing, and scheduling to maximize on-time delivery and minimize costs.
- Monitor fleet performance using KPIs and data analytics; identify, communicate, and implement improvements.
- Partner with dispatch, warehousing, and carrier partners to resolve exceptions and maintain service continuity.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies; maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Collaborate with procurement and carrier management to negotiate rates and capacity.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in routing, loads, and utilization of assets.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of transportation operations, logistics, or fleet coordination experience.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data tools (Excel, dashboards, TMS/ERP).
- Experience with route optimization, capacity planning, and carrier management.
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements (FMCSA, DOT) and safety compliance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and ability to travel as needed.
