EcoSphere Waste Solutions is a leading provider of sustainable waste management solutions for municipalities and commercial clients. We are seeking a results-driven Waste Management Engineer to design, implement, and optimize programs that improve diversion rates, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance.
In this role you will work with cross-functional teams to deliver practical, large-scale solutions in recycling, organics, and landfill optimization while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of waste programs, including recycling, organics, and energy-from-waste initiatives.
- Assess regulatory compliance and manage documentation for EPA, state, and local authorities; coordinate permitting and reporting.
- Develop data-driven strategies using Excel, GIS, and analytics to reduce costs and improve diversion rates.
- Collaborate with operations, fleet, and contractors to optimize collection routes, processing facilities, and landfill usage.
- Model life-cycle costs, conduct feasibility studies, and support capital projects for new facilities or technologies.
- Engage stakeholders, municipalities, and customers to communicate program changes and drive adoption.
- Lead sustainability reporting and contribute to ESG initiatives and certifications.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; master's preferred.
- 5+ years of waste management experience across recycling, organics, or landfill operations.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state/local) and permitting processes.
- Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS) and data analytics; ability to build dashboards and present insights.
- Project management certification or demonstrated program management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities with a collaborative approach.
- Ability to travel up to 20% to support sites and stakeholder meetings.
