Join a leading water and sanitation program focused on delivering sustainable, scalable WASH solutions in Kenya. We are seeking a results-driven Water and Sanitation Lead to oversee design, implementation, and monitoring of critical water, sanitation, and hygiene projects. You will collaborate with government, NGOs, and communities to improve access to clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene education.
As a key member of our team, you will drive technical excellence, manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with standards, and support fundraising and reporting to deliver measurable impact.
Responsibility
- Lead the planning and execution of water supply, sanitation, and wastewater projects from concept to close-out with a focus on quality, timely delivery, and community impact.
- Develop and review technical designs and specifications, ensuring compliance with WASH standards and local regulations.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, and risk management; monitor progress and report to stakeholders and donors.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders to secure buy-in and facilitate effective stakeholder engagement.
- Lead data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and learning to demonstrate outcomes and inform program improvements.
- Ensure quality assurance, safety, environmental sustainability, and resilience in all field activities.
- Build the capacity of local teams through mentoring, training, and hands-on technical support.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in WASH projects, with field implementation in Kenya or East Africa preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge in water supply systems, sanitation facilities, handwashing and behavior change, and basic wastewater management.
- Experience with project management, monitoring and evaluation, budgeting, and donor reporting; proficiency with GIS, AutoCAD, EPANET, or QGIS is a plus.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, community development, and capacity building skills.
- Fluent in English; local language proficiency and cultural sensitivity a plus.
- Willingness to travel to field sites and maintain a positive, collaborative team environment; valid driver's license may be required.
